C&rsquo;est une langue d&rsquo;une autre race. Si nous voulons comprendre le jazz, il faut nous mettre \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9cole des Noirs, leur demander le secret de leur langage musical, apprendre \u00e0 le saisir &#8211; voir le parler si l&rsquo;on veut \u00eatre musicien de jazz &#8211; comme eux. \u00a0\u00bb INTRODUCTION, La bataille du jazz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>le jazz vient de l&rsquo;\u00e9glise en deux parties:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>la percussion. Le <em>Love Supreme<\/em> de Coltrane n&rsquo;est-il pas au jazz ce que <em>La Passion selon Saint Matthieu<\/em> de Bach est au classique? Coltrane sut tant rejoindre son auditoire qu&rsquo;il fut canonis\u00e9 par la St John Coltrane African Orthodox Church. (N.B.: IL EXISTE UN DOCUMENTAIRE &#8211; \u00c0 CONSULTER POUR LA RECHERCHE). C&rsquo;est dans ce projet musical que Coltrane prof\u00e8re sa foi dans toute son intensit\u00e9 en 1969, foi qui s&rsquo;est raffermie lorsqu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;est sorti d&rsquo;une addiction \u00e0 l&rsquo;h\u00e9ro\u00efne, \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 50. Il aurait dit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00bb IT IS WITH GOD.<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>HE IS GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL.<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>HIS WAY IS IN LOVE, THROUGH WHICH WE ALL ARE.<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>IT IS TRULY \u2013&nbsp;A LOVE SUPREME&nbsp; \u00ab\u00a0<\/strong> &#8211; John Coltrane<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ainsi, par le jazz, la communaut\u00e9 afro-am\u00e9ricaine se serait r\u00e9appropri\u00e9e la chr\u00e9tient\u00e9? Bien que l&rsquo;\u00c9glise ait eut un r\u00f4le primordial sur la mise en place de m\u00e9canismes colonialistes ayant men\u00e9 \u00e0 la traite atlantique, l&rsquo;esclavage et donc l&rsquo;oppression des Afro-Am\u00e9ricains, la religion est au c\u0153ur m\u00eame de leurs expression culturelles, tel que James Baldwin le met en sc\u00e8ne dans <em>La Conversion<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans la Nouvelle-Orl\u00e9ans, les esclaves noirs avaient un plus grand droit \u00e0 la libert\u00e9 d&rsquo;expression: d&rsquo;o\u00f9 sont demeur\u00e9s les tam-tams traditionnels de la musique africaine (congolaise, plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment) qui ont permis \u00e0 la percussion d&rsquo;\u00e9merger comme d\u00e9crit ci-haut. La musique permit de pr\u00e9server la culture au del\u00e0 de la langue et autres expressions perdues. Influence de la culture fran\u00e7aise en Louisiane?
